This award-winning folktale explains the possible origin of this famous cat. Available in 9 bilingual languages.
This retelling of one of the most famous pieces of Japanese folklore captures the positive values of love and kindness. A toymaker who cares for an injured cat ends up having his own life saved, and is repaid with good fortune. This classic story reminds us that doing a good deed may offer its own rewards. It received the 2007 Nappa Honor National Parenting Publication Award, as well as the 2009 Creative Child Magazine Preferred Choice Award.
To create his story, author/illustrator Sunny Seki conducted extensive research, and actually visited the famous Gotoku-ji Temple in Setagaya, Japan, which is the birthplace of the Lucky Cat.
The Tale of the Lucky Cat is ideal for young readers ages 3-12; the bilingual versions are perfect for people learning or teaching a second language.
